Ballard Church wants to help!  This Sunday from 1-5pm we will be hitting the streets to serve our community.  We truly want to make a difference in our world by loving and serving our neighbors.  At BC we don’t just want to “go” to church we want to “be” the church by giving to others with no strings attached.

A few months ago we launched our first ever Serve a Stranger day and it was a huge success. We were able to help a lot of neighbors and people in the community with projects they needed help with.  In fact, this event went so well that we decided to make it semi-regular and ongoing.  We are hoping to do this event every 4-6 weeks.   Basically we want to offer a standing invitation to our community and the people in our neighborhood that if you need help with anything please give us a chance to help you out.  No strings attached.  It’s a completely free service that will try to tackle if we have the manpower (and woman-power) and enough time. 

We are hoping for around 20-30 volunteers this Sunday for four hours from 1-5pm to help with various work projects and meeting needs in our city.  Serving, cleaning, lifting, scrubbing, moving, packing, weeding, painting, and helping in any way we can.  Really. We just want to help.  Of course we will still have our regular Sunday morning service at 10am but afterwards people have time to go home, change, eat lunch, and then meet back at Ballard Church at 1pm with their work clothes on!  We’ll divide into teams and spend 4 hours serving and then we’ll meet back at the church for a BBQ potluck/hang-out time afterwards for those who want to join us.  If you don’t want to serve but want to come to the BBQ afterwards feel free to stop by at 5pm.  Or if you can only come for a few hours, we’d still love to have your help.
